I'm thinking of attending the 221B con this year, and it would be my first time at a fan convention. Are there any Sherlockian veterans here willing to offer advice? Looking at the program, I'm surprised by how many non-SH media are represented (Good Omens?? not that I don't enjoy it) and by the heavy focus on the BBC adaptation.

comments

Kudos:

These have almost all been given to works recommended and described by others as part of the challenge, several via rabidsamfan. "Signs for the Distant and Disconsolate Heart" is one of my favorites; it brings the Britten/Pears relationship and a windy day by the sea into a beautifully introspective BBC fic. "Our Ships Painted Red" is a hallucinatory, Homeric delight.

http://archiveofourown.org/works/632992 (Storyteller)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/3088544/chapters/6693866 (No Ordinary Cats)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/10720461/chapters/23753115 (A Study in Recuperation)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/11361453 (As if the World Should Unroll itself like a Cloak)

https://archiveofourown.org/works/166797/ (Signs for the Distant and Disconsolate Heart)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/45685 (A Cold Night Out)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/52298 (Body Blows)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/52936/ (R is for...)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/13572573/ (Acts of Caring)

https://archiveofourown.org/works/262999 (Birthday Surprise)

http://archiveofourown.org/works/414229 (and now, the shipping forecast)

https://archiveofourown.org/works/345705 (Our Ships Painted Red)

Recs:

Holmes, Voiceless: http://archiveofourown.org/works/10150220. As observed in the original rec post, I love the delicacy of this (and, indeed, the author's oeuvre in general.)

Doctor's Visit: http://archiveofourown.org/works/501612. A happy discovery for me: a brief but evocative one-shot set in the Granada universe, and the author's first (!) Holmes fic. Go over, leave them some love, and convince them to keep at it!

Birthday Surprise: https://archiveofourown.org/works/262999. I didn't know I wanted a femslash fic with Molly Hooper and Historian!Harry Watson, but gosh, I really did.

Comments:

Storyteller (http://archiveofourown.org/works/632992) via rachelindeed's rec.

Signs for the Distant and Disconsolate Heart (https://archiveofourown.org/works/166797/) via ancientreader's rec

R is for...
